She moves light as a feather as she dances and skips along. Her pigtails rise and fall as she drifts gracefully. Her arm raised waving to friends approaching. A simple and fun piece celebrating moments of carefree freedom.

This piece was inspired by the six-year-old child who served as model for this sculpture.  The original pose was going to be more of a traditional dancing pose.  The idea quickly changed as she skipped and smiled during the modeling session.  The new pose and design emerged from this carefree behavior.

Play is more than just a joyful pastime it is essential to healthy growth, creativity, and social connection. It fosters imagination and allows children to explore the world with wonder. This sculpture captures that moment when the joy of play takes over, reminding us all to enjoy the time we have in this life.

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
-Mister Rodgers
